Description

This 2½ Gulden banknote from the Netherlands Antilles showcases unique artistic and security features. Dated 1970, it features a blue color palette with distinct designs. The image prominently includes an aircraft symbolizing modernity and progress. The banknote contains certain security elements like a serial number and watermark for authenticity.

Obverse (front)
The front side of the banknote features a vibrant blue background with intricate designs. Notably, an airplane motif symbolizes the region’s connection to travel and commerce. It also includes the denomination '2 ½' prominently displayed and the text 'NEDERLANDSE ANTILLEN.' Security features such as a serial number (A0123450) and the signature of the Minister of Finance, E.J. Tromp, are visible. The word 'SPECIMEN' in red adds an artistic touch while indicating that this is a sample note.

Reverse (back)
On the reverse side, the banknote continues the blue color theme with detailed patterns that enhance its aesthetic appeal. The denomination is repeated, along with the phrase 'TWEE EN EEN HALVE GULDEN.' An intricate design encloses a watermarked section, demonstrating its security characteristics. The use of micro-text and watermarks is a security aspect typical for banknotes, ensuring authenticity. The year of issue and additional identifiers adorn this side while reinforcing its value as a legal tender.

SPECIMEN: Demonstration banknote used by banks and printers, marked with "SPECIMEN." Never circulated, often in pristine condition, making it highly collectible.
