Netherlands - 5 Gulden 1966 - Pick # 90zz* - UNC

Description

The 5-guilder banknote issued by the De Nederlandsche Bank features an intriguing historical design. Celebrating Dutch heritage, it showcases the portrait of the esteemed playwright Joost van den Vondel. The note's predominant green color evokes a classic and sophisticated feel, while its intricate geometric patterns and textures demonstrate advanced security features. Enhanced visual elements ensure both authenticity and aesthetic appeal.

Obverse (front)
The front of the banknote features a prominent portrait of Joost van den Vondel, one of the Netherlands' most famous poets and playwrights. Surrounding his image are various artistic elements, including a series of semicircles and patterns in shades of green. The denomination '5' is displayed in a large, bold format, enhancing clarity for identification. The note also incorporates security features like a watermark and microtext, which assure its authenticity. The delicate textures and design intricacies not only reflect artistic craftsmanship but also serve practical purposes in preventing counterfeiting.

Reverse (back)
The reverse side of the 5-guilder note presents a continuation of the artistic themes found on the front, featuring intertwined patterns and shades of green. While specific detailed elements are less prominent than on the front, the bank's name and additional security features can be identified. The background is filled with circular motifs that add a visual rhythm, reinforcing the note's elegant design. Notable is the absence of complex imagery, allowing a focus on the note's text and essential characteristics, which are crucial for practical use and recognition.

REPLACEMENT: Banknote printed to replace damaged ones. Scarcer than regular issues, increasing its appeal and value among collectors.
